The annual summer event of ArtHouston 2011, encompassing exhibitions at more than 30 galleries, will take place Saturday, July 9. A day long event, it will be the busiest day of the year with many galleries holding evening receptions.

A wide range of work will be on display, from realist to abstract paintings, sculpture to mixed media constructions, drawings and works on paper, collage and photography. The featured artists are both emerging regional talents and established artists from around the world.

Participating galleries include those along Colquitt, in the Museum District, the Heights and other areas. The ArtHouston July Exhibition guide will be available at all participating galleries in mid June.

The ArtHouston Summer event is always free and open to the public.

Founded in 1979 as Introductions, ArtHouston has grown from a twelve gallery art-walk to an almost city-wide exhibition of talent. Introductions was established by Houston Art Dealers Association as a way to further art awareness during the summer months, traditionally a less active time of the year for galleries. Over the past 30 years, many artists exhibiting in Introductions and ArtHouston have become well-known locally and internationally.

The ArtHouston summer event is free and open to the public.

ArtHouston also provides to the public a year long Houston Gallery Guide, giving you access to find exactly what you are looking for.
