    INTIMATE GRAMMAR (HaDikduk HaPnimi)
    Wed, Aug 17
    7:30 PM • JCC

    Director: Nir Bergman

    Israel, 2010, 110 min.
    Hebrew with English subtitles

Based on The Book of Intimate Grammar by David Grossman.

In Israel in the early 1960s, a new generation is growing up: the militant Israelis, a generation that will not go through another Holocaust. But alas, Hinda's son, Aharon, a sensitive boy with a highly developed inner world, does not quite fit the mold. His soul seeks refinement, art – everything he is unable to find at home. How could he?

For Hinda, human existence is reduced to war and survival. It is quite the same with his father, a Holocaust survivor. Aharon refuses to become like his parents. During three years he does not grow an inch, until he realizes he is partly responsible for this, and so he embarks on a dangerous inner journey: to cross the boundary dividing childhood and adolescence.
