Historic preservation meets the art of brewing onboard the 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA on July 9, 2011 at 7 p.m. Join Galveston Historical Foundation as they welcome Houston’s Saint Arnold’s brewery to the Texas Seaport Museum for History on Tap, a joint discussion on the centuries old crafts of ship building, brewing, and the connections between them.

History on Tap marks the first of an ongoing series of GHF events that highlight the historical aspects of brewing and distilling combined with discussions on the event venue. “This inaugural ‘on tap' event brings our Gulf Coast maritime history to light as we celebrate with our sailing vessel ELISSA and the extraordinary ELISSA ale, Saint Arnolds’ fastest growing beverage. We look forward to continuing this series that combines the extraordinary history of Galveston with an age-old favorite pastime, drinking beer and wine, responsibly.” says Dwayne Jones, Galveston Historical Foundation’s Executive Director.

Lennie Ambrose, Events and Marketing Director for Saint Arnold adds, “Not only does the style of our ELISSA India Pale Ale match with the great history of the Tall Ship ELISSA, but working with Galveston Historical Foundation is also a great match with the philosophy of our company. We want to educate folks on what a great beer can really be and the supporters of GHF have long been educating the people of Texas about our rich maritime history.”

A complimentary beer will be provided with each ticket with the availability to purchase additional Saint Arnold beers during the event.

Tickets are $20 per person and available online at www.galvestonhistory.org  or by calling 409-765-1877. Individuals purchasing a ticket before July 2nd will be entered into a contest for a rare, overnight stay on board the ELISSA the night of the event.
