    Film and Psychoanalysis:  Faraway, So Close!

    Jung Center of Houston presents Film and Psychoanalysis.  This popular series, sponsored with the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Society, returns to The Jung Center this summer. Four Thursdays: August 4 - 25 at 7 pm. Free.

    Join us for free film screenings and lectures, which will examine film through the lens of psychoanalysis. Each screening will be followed by brief comments from a different speaker from The Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Society and The Jung Center.

    August 25 - Faraway, So Close! (1993): An angel, yearning for incarnation, crosses the line and stumbles into the harsh realities of contemporary life. Faraway, So Close! is director Wim Wenders poetic, gravity defying homage to the wondrous but painful intersection of the divine and the mortal. A spiritual film odyssey, it provides unforgettable imagery of life seen from the perspective of the greater Self. Winner of the Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize.

    Jerry M. Ruhl, PhD, is an author, psychologist, and executive director of The Jung Center. With Robert A. Johnson, he is the co-author of Living Your Unlived Life (2007), Contentment (1999), and Balancing Heaven and Earth (1998).

    All screenings are free, and reservations are not necessary -- seating is on a first-come, first served basis.
