Frenetic Theater presents Glitter Guts and Glory, Friday and Saturday, July 15 & 16, at 7:30pm.

Choreographer jhon r. stronks strikes again! This time bringing “The Magic Unicorn Dance Crew” (TMUDC) to the Frenetic Theater for an evening of full-out-with-feeling Yay Dansation!!! Glitter Guts and Glory is the upward and onward journey toward the ultimate of ultimatums: “LOVE ME MORE BITCHES!” ("New York" aka. Tiffany Patterson). Join TMUDC as they make their way to the top of the magic mountain of truth only to trip and fall down the spiral staircase of lust and confusion toward the ecstasy of a love they never knew they wanted… and probably still don’t. Glitter Guts and Glory is presented as an evening length dance theater performance event featuring film work by Margo Stutts Toombs of Burning Shoe Productions.

Along with the signature surprises and last minute improvisational masterpieces, the show features three premieres. Subversive Stylized Submission a duet between choreographer jhon r. stronks and Kerry Jackson that explores the platonic male/male relationship in the LGBTQ community. Alone, in the temple of what is familiar to me is a solo created in collaboration with Matthew Cumbie that follows instinctual tracks that lead to the development of identity. Gawk Gawk oohh ah ah, NO she didn’t! is complete with a black god and purple jesus this dance is part SYTYCD part SYTYCAN’TD, part Pantomime Theater, part DRAGG Show, part Vegas, part Outer Space, definitely all in our heads. This is the UN authorized story of “The Magic Unicorn Dance Crew” their rise, their fall, their rise again and again and again.

The evening also includes the re staging of the 2008 Buffy Award winning O.K. I’m Here … Now What? A text driven work that ponders the existence of existence and the insistence of letting go of knowing and diving head first into the gap between.

Not to be missed is the hyper-active intermission. In the off chance that the potty break and concessions isn’t enough, the audience will have the opportunity to take “runway” lessons, enjoy a half time show and participate in arts and crafts. Because we know you hate it and quite frankly so do I, all activities are absolutely voluntary! Trust me you won’t be harassed, unless that’s how you like it!

About jhon stronks: jhon combines the fundamental elements of choreography, dance technique, and authentic movement in an effort to create dances that speak truthfully and promote honest conversation. He is often accused of presenting his audiences with seemingly disobedient work that behaves according to its own sanity. Stronks' passion for giving address to the gaps between what is perceived and what is present usually lands his work somewhere between a cry for personal consciousness and a plea for social justice.
