Come Fourth and join us in the fun at Galveston’s 4th of July Parade and Celebration! If you’re looking for a change of scenery to celebrate Independence Day, Galveston Island is just the place to make your holiday weekend a true get-a-way. From fireworks over the beach to a traditional hometown parade in the island’s historical downtown district, Galveston will offer a plethora of special activities July 1-4.

On the 4th of July, Galveston Island will celebrate with its annual downtown parade at 10 a.m. featuring a procession of floats, decorated military vehicles and performers. The parade will begin at Santa Fe and 25th streets and continue through downtown before ending at the Galveston Railroad Museum for a patriotic celebration with live music and refreshments. The event is organized by the Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership and Galveston County Marine Corps League.

And you're invited to join the parade! Decorate your tank, amphibious landing craft, HUMVEE or any other favorite mode of military transportation, and join us in the parade. Civilian craft – convertibles, golf carts, bicycles, etc. welcome too! Participation is FREE but registration is required.

The Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership and Galveston County Marine Corps League are pleased to announce the inclusion of the Nation’s only mobile replica of the Liberty Bell in this year’s 4th of July Downtown Parade & Celebration. The Liberty Bell is one of the iconic symbols of the American Revolution. The Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) commissioned seventy exact replica Liberty Bells to be made to supply the need for bells for the 1976 bicentennial commemoration of the Declaration of Independence. Displayed on a trailer to allow mobility, the featured replica bell coming to Galveston serves in hundreds of Honor Guard ceremonies each year and participates in many events dedicated to helping, supporting, and honoring American heroes.

The bell’s appearance in the Downtown Parade and Celebration is made possible through the generous support of the local Bernardo De Galvez Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Downtown Parade Information:
Parade Line-Up: 9 AM, Santa Fe Place @ 25th Street
Parade Start: 10 AM
Parade Duration: Approximately 20 Blocks
Parade Route: The parade begins at 10am at the Railroad Museum on 25th Street, heading south to Postoffice Street, east on Postoffice to 21st Street, north on 21st Street to Strand, then west on Strand to 25th Street.

That evening, the island will host a 20-minute fireworks show over the Gulf of Mexico at 37th Street and Seawall Boulevard. The beachfront fireworks display – sponsored by the Galveston Park Board of Trustees – will begin at 9:15 p.m.
