Rudyard's presents Day Sailor * Maren Parusel * Jealous Creatures.

Day Sailor – (Houston, TX) michael and amanda became friends because they both have crazy last names, a love of donuts, and a dream to make music. we started writing together in early 2010 and finished a few tracks in February 2011.

Maren Parusel – (pictured, San Diego, CA) Maren Parusel is now releasing her first full length record on Requiemme Records. Parusel and her band; Kyle McGee (bass) and Eric Brozgold (drums) live to play music. Together just over a year, they are building a fan base one at a time as they did on a recent three week tour to the Northwest., two trips to SXSW and another tour coming up in December. Having left her small home town of Tubingen, Germany just a few years ago for film School in Los Angeles, it has been an enlightening, whirlwind, and sometimes chaotic road as she and her music have evolved from punk rock in an all-girls Zeros cover band to the melodic, layered and heartfelt music she plays in her own band now.

All of these experiences have made the band dedicated and more determined. There’s something passionate about a band that will not listen and doesn’t seem to care about the endless pitfalls and broken hearts waiting out there in the industry and on the road, as they leave armed with a handful of gigs, some vinyl, CD’s and a well rehearsed set bent on winning over the world.

Jealous Creatures – (Houston, TX ) Taking shape in early 2011, Jealous Creatures began as a collaboration between Houston locals Sarah Hirsch and Josh Barry. Hirsch had spent time in Austin playing guitar and singing with a number of bands before deciding to return to her hometown and start something fresh. Barry, who had worked his way through a lengthy stint as drummer in Houston new wave band Japanic, was on the lookout for something new. Reworking Hirsch’s folk-laced demos into riff-driven rock songs, the pair decided to recruit additional members for a full-fledged band. After hooking up with ex-Big Top bassist Lisa Gallo Roth, fellow Japanic keyboardist Rob Smith, and guitarist Ian Hlavacek, the band released its debut album on their own Critter Records label.
