    Scientific Discoveries Improving Healthcare
    Panel Discussion

    New scientific discoveries will personally affect our lives by improving the effectiveness of healthcare diagnostics and treatment. The panel at this session will give an update on diagnostics and regenerative medicine impacted by scientific discoveries that are creating new opportunities for affordable individualized healthcare.

    Presented by Rice chemistry professors Cindy Farach-Carson, PhD, associate vice provost for research and scientific director, BioScience Research Collaborative; Daniel D. Carson, PhD, dean, Wiess School of Natural Sciences, and Schlumberger Chair of Advanced Studies and Research; and John T. McDevitt, Brown-Wiess Professor of Chemistry and Bioengineering and research director, McDevitt Lab

    The United Nations declared 2011 the International Year of Chemistry to bring awareness to how chemistry helps achieve economic, environmental and health goals of the modern world. This lecture is part of the International Year of Chemistry Lecture Series co-sponsored by Rice University's Glasscock School of Continuing Studies and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

    Parking is available in our 6-story garage located on Caroline, just south of Hermann Drive. Parking is just $5 for museum patrons and $7 for all others. In addition, some curbside parking is available near the Museum entrance and in Hermann Park.
