    Consequences of the War
    John B. Boles, Ph.D., Historian (pictured)

    As a result of the Civil War, the South was forced to respond to mass death, the end of slavery and economic transformations. John B. Boles will explore the social, cultural, racial and economic effects of the war on the South as well as the immediate and long-term costs.

    John B. Boles, Ph.D., is William P. Hobby professor of history at Rice University and editor of the Journal of Southern History.

    This lecture is co-sponsored by Rice University's Humanities Research Center and Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.

    Parking is available in our 6-story garage located on Caroline, just south of Hermann Drive. Parking is just $5 for museum patrons and $7 for all others. In addition, some curbside parking is available near the Museum entrance and in Hermann Park.
