Dosey Doe Coffee House presents Deryl Dodd & Rick Huckaby. Stardom came as a guitar player & backup singer with Martina McBride & then on Tour: Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn. After a life-threatening illness nearly ended his career, Dodd re-emerged with a new appreciation for life and a stronger loyalty to himself & his music. “Huck” (Rick) was in Tracy Lawrence’s band for 5 years and wrote 10 songs that were recorded on various Lawrence albums during that time. His first solo effort Hittin My Stride shows that he ready for stardom himself.

Deryl Dodd (pictured): Deryl Dodd has made a name for himself as one of the most authentic artists in country music. From the Texas music circuit to Nashville, national tours to chart topping hits, he’s seen the country music industry from the top. Born in Dallas, Texas, he grew up heavily influenced by the soulful gospel music of the Pentecostal church where his grandfather was pastor. Learning to play guitar at age seven, banjo at thirteen, and pedal steel at sixteen Deryl was performing in honkytonks and dancehalls by the time he graduated college.

Country music fans can depend on Deryl Dodd to bring back traditional honky-tonk (like the track “Death, Taxes and Texas”), but with his unique modern flair.

Rick Huckaby: Rick Huckaby, or “Huck” as he is referred to, is a Nashville, TN singer, songwriter, and guitar player. His sound is like none other heard in country music today combining influences as rare as Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Merle Haggard, Ronnie Milsap, and Keith Whitley. His lyrical honesty and vocal integrity is something of a rarity these days and his ability to incorporate such a wide variety of musical genres inspires those who take the time to listen.
