Infinite Movement Ever Evolving (iMEE), contemporary dance company presents a feast of sight and sound through a unique collective of choreographic voices on Thursday, August 18; Friday, August 19; and Saturday, August 20 at Barnevelder Movement / Arts Complex as part of the inaugural Houston Dance Festival (HDF)iMEE performs the second weekend of the dance festival.

iMEE’s Program showcases choreography by internationally acclaimed and award winning choreographer Maurice Causey, a former Ballet Frankfurt dancer and former Ballet Master for Nederlands Dance Theater. The program also features a first ever, collaborative joint venture by iMEE Directors, Spencer Gavin Hering and Andrea Dawn Shelley.

Causey will present his World Premiere, avant-garde work, Grim Eye, set to music by London based composer Gabriel Prokofiev, son of the 20th Century Composer, Sergei Prokofiev. Hering and Shelley will present their visually stimulating collaborative work, Superfluous, which toys with excessive human idiosyncrasies set to the music stylings of the 50’s with set design by Hering, who is also a visual artist. Both works will feature all of the artists of iMEE as well as the intoxicating light design of Jeremy Choate.

“I like to be challenged by a piece of music. Prokofiev, who is also a DJ, experiments with spinning classical music on turntables…this was intriguing to me. Prokofiev’s music is huge and confronting. The movement style I have developed for “Grim Eye” reflects an aggressive and rough temperament in which I can relate to very much these days, which I am trying to discover why?” says Causey.

iMEE introduces two new dancers to Houston audiences, Edgar Anido of Complexions Contemporary Dance Company and Britt Juleen Gonzalez (pictured above) from Dresden SemperOper Ballett. Along with iMEE Artistic Directors, Hering and Shelley, celebrated iMEE dancers Cristian Laverde Koenig and Lindsey McGill will be featured as well as guest artists Jessica Collado and Oliver Halkowich, appearing courtesy of Houston Ballet. Ms. Collado, and Ms. Juleen will be making their iMEE debuts.
