Audiences just "cain't say no" to the American classic musical Oklahoma! Rodgers and Hammerstein's ground-breaking show, Oklahoma!, was a box office smash when it opened in 1943 and continues to captivate the heart of America. Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) brings the production, directed by Ilich Guardiola, to the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, TX 77433 weekends, July 22-August 6, 2011. Curly, a handsome, headstrong cowboy and Laurey, a stubborn, spirited farm girl, play out their bumpy love story through memorable music and clever lyrics. Enduring numbers include “People Will Say We're In Love,” “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’” and “I Cain't Say No.”

Oklahoma! written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, was the first collaboration between these two giants of American musical theatre. Originally produced in 1943, Oklahoma! was a box office smash hit that saw an unprecedented 2212 performances.
Oklahoma! redefined the art form of musical theater forever. It was the first show that dared to make the music an integral part of both the character development and the story telling. It was also the first time that dance was used to further the story line and the dramatic conflict.
