Dosey Doe Coffee House presents Guzman-Fox-Fukunaga (CD Release).

Talented, versatile and inspiring, the power couple of accordionist/producer/arranger Joel Guzman and singer/songwriter Sarah Fox has been one of the most prolific and influential duos in Central and South Texas. 

On their own, they are virtuosic performers. Together, they are a top-notch pair that have led several groups from Los Aztex to the Mexican Roots Trio. Through the years they have additionally collaborated and performed with a galaxy of top stars including Stephen Bruton, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Freddy Fender, Little Joe, Flaco Jimenez, Los Super Seven, Latin Breed, Ram Herrera and Grupo Mazz. But if they seem below the pop culture radar for having worked with such illuminaries, it's not because of their music, it’s because that’s how Joel and Sarah like it. Both artists are humble, unassuming and approachable individuals.

Son of proud migrant workers, Joel grew up in Washington State learning to love Tejano and conjunto music. Sarah, the daughter of a Mexican mother and a Cuban father, grew up with constant exposure to the best of several worlds including salsa, ranchera, blues and jazz music. Combining influences, their field of musical expertise now runs the gamut from Rock and Blues, to Folk and Jazz, to Conjunto and Americana.

Joined with Glenn Fukunaga on bass, Joel and Sarah are back with a new roots CD titled Conjuntazzo, which Joel describes as “Conjunto Americana.” The tunes include several Tex-Mex folk classics such as Alegre me ando Paseando, Los Alegres de Teran’s Ojitos Verdes, Esteban Jordan’s El Gancho and the dramatic Mexican blues rendition of Puñalada, a Lydia Mendoza classic.
