Dosey Doe Coffee House presents Chuck Allen Floyd & Morris McCann

Chuck Allen Floyd (pictured) has lived many lives. Songwriter, guitarist, cowboy, lawyer, frontman – each phase no less significant or influential than the last. His songs reflect the full gamut of each experience, creating an honest look at the life of a man who could’ve just as easily spent his days in a courtroom instead of on a stage. Chuck’s path to the Texas Country music scene took him through Nashville, Amarillo, and Nashville (again), finally returning him home to Oklahoma where he stands poised to take his place among the Country Music elite.

Chuck’s career as a songwriter in Clint Black’s Blacktop Music Group allowed him to hone his skill of crafting songs that connect with large audiences. Texas favorite James Lann recorded five of Chuck’s compositions on his current album, including the title cut, Honky Tonk Kung Fu (co-written with Lann) and the #1 hit The Talent Requires. Chuck’s songs have also been recorded by 2006 ACM Vocal Group Of The Year nominee Carolina Rain (How It Should Be), Trey Hensley & Janie Fricke (Lisa On The Line), Australian sensation Liam Brew (Today I’d Take A River) and others. His song Borrowed Wings won him first place in the 2009 Billboard World Song Contest. The following year he was honored as Billboard’s 2010 winner for the song Wishing He Was You - a back-to-back feat never before accomplished.

Morris McCann began his musical career as a teen, playing the honky-tonks of Oklahoma alongside his dad who was an accomplished mandolin player. His father has passed but Morris has continued to sing and play his guitar for fans since. Morris once said, "My dad was a great mentor and always taught me to never be an imitator, but to just sing the way I sing and play the way I play," and that is exactly what he has done.

When you first hear Morris sing you may detect a hint of Don Williams or Merle Haggard but one thing is for certain - once you have enjoyed the smooth versatility in his voice, you will never forget it. The uniqueness of that voice can only be described as... Morris McCann.

To hear Morris perform is special, to see him perform is magical. His fingers dance across the frets of his guitar in a mesmerizing style. Influenced by such legendary pickers as Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs, Morris has honed his skill on the guitar to near perfection. At times, it sounds as though there is another guitarist accompanying him but after a stage search you'll quickly realize that it's all distinctly… Morris McCann.
