The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents a MFAH Lecture:  Mountain Path by the River of Knowing, Sunday, Aug 28, 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM. A meditative discourse on Vedic arts of mountains and rivers. Presented by His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda (pictured).

His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda presents a spectacular array of images from the forthcoming book Mountain Path by the River of Knowing. Through photographs of the Himalayan Mountains and the Ganga (Ganges) River, holy pilgrimage sites along the banks of the river and the merging of the Ganga into the Bay of Bengal, His Holiness explores the impact of the Ganga on the popular Sanskrit tradition which developed primarily after the Vedic Sanskrit from the Saraswati River era. His talk also highlights how the magnificent Ganga shapes the Indic ethos by revealing the Himalayan Sanskrit heritage of the Mountain Path. Following the presentation, His Holiness leads a 20-minute group meditation.

This event is open to the public, and admission is free. A reception follows the program.

Be in the serene presence of a philosopher monk of the Vedanta, Samkhya, and Yoga traditions trained in the Himalayan terrain. His Holiness teaches spiritual philosophy with exquisite clarity and guides sincere seekers in the practice of Himalayan meditation techniques. He was awarded the esteemed degree of "Mahamahopadhyay" (Great Ordained Teacher) by the university system in India due to his meditative insights and scholarly articulation of Sanskrit literature. He is a pontiff of the Swamahiman mission and the head monk of the U.S. nonprofit organization Self Enquiry Life Fellowship.
