Alamo Drafthouse Mason (Katy) presents Big Screen Classics: BLUE VELVET 25th Anniversary w/PBR.

Like a rich Bordeaux from a good vintage, some films age well, delicately maturing and growing more sophisticated with each passing year. There is a wealth of cinematic gems out there, gathering dust in the annals of time. Enter Big Screen Classics - a place where we celebrate all of the accomplishments in movies over the past 100+ years. Here you'll see the crème de la crème of old movie magic.  You'll always be amazed at the riches of cinema history at Big Screen Classics.

This series also encompasses our Digital Classics Series. The newest advancement in digital movie technology involves the painstaking restoration and preservation of classic films using computer technology. The films are then printed onto 4K or 2K digital drives, providing the clearest and brightest image possible using our state-of-the-art digital projectors. Whenever an archive or a studio announces a new digital restoration, we rush to bring it to the Alamo.

    BLUE VELVET 25th Anniversary w/PBR
    Director David Lynch
    Year 1986
Starring Kyle MacLachlan, Dennis Hopper, Isabella Rossellini, Laura Dern
    Rating R
    Run Time 130min

Frank Booth, the coolest person ever to grace a movie screen, had a lot of things going for him. He was a criminal. He was played by legendary madman Dennis Hopper. He really knew how to make love (here’s a tip: it involves gas masks and violent dry-humping). And he didn’t drink Heineken; the only thing that touched his lips (aside from poorly applied lipstick) was PABST BLUE RIBBON.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of BLUE VELVET, we’re bringing back one of our favorite film and drink pairings, where we show the classic David Lynch film and the PBR is abundant.

The film is one of the greatest bizarre, seedy-under-the-surface stories ever told, directed masterfully by Lynch at his absolute peak. Starring Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, and Laura Dern.
