Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center presents Second Saturday Settlers: Homestead Fun. Saturday, August 13, 1-3 p.m.

What did Texas settlers do for fun? Park visitors of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on demonstrations of fun activities and enjoy food that settlers often made. Jones Park staff and volunteers treat guests to samples of homemade ice cream and fresh watermelon, horseshoes and other old-fashioned games, and demonstrate some of the daily activities of Texas settlers at the Redbud Hill Homestead.

And don't miss the Second Sunday Pickers
Sunday, August 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Beat the heat and enjoy a concert in the nature center as the Second Sunday Pickers take center stage for an afternoon of folk music played on a variety of old-fashioned instruments. Visitors of all ages are invited to listen, sing along, or bring an instrument to join in the fun.

Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, a Harris County Precinct 4 facility under the leadership of Commissioner Jerry Eversole, is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive in Humble. All programs are free of charge and open to the public. Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, sex, religion, national origin or physical ability.
