October 1 - October 22, 2011
Main Street Theater presents Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly. Book, Music and Lyrics by Joan Cushing. Adapted from the "Diary of a Worm" series by Doreen Cronin and Harry Bliss. Directed by Troy Scheid. Musical Direction by Claudia Dyle. Weekend Family Performances Saturdays at 1pm and 4pm: October 1, 8, 15 & 22, 2011.
It’s the first day of school, and Worm, Spider, and Fly are excited to catch up with friends and begin the year, but each critter faces a unique challenge. Based on the ever-popular books, Diary of a Worm, ...a Spider, and … a Fly, this play reminds us that all creatures want to be recognized, appreciated and loved!
Recommended for Pre-kindergarten and up. No children under 3 allowed in the theater (including sleeping babies).
On Saturday, October 1st, MST will launch its first-ever book club, Page to Stage, at the Blue Willow Bookshop at 10am! The club will meet 6 times over the course of the season to talk about the books the MST Theater for Youth plays are based on, meet characters from the books, have a snack, make crafts, and hear a reading from the book. Children can bring their own copy of the book or purchase it at a discount at Blue Willow (located at 14532 Memorial Drive (at Dairy Ashford)). To RSVP for the book club, send an email to email@example.com.
Also on October 1, join us for insect arts and crafts using recycled materials from 2:30 – 3:30pm at MST- Chelsea Market.
Finally, on October 18, there will be a book signing with author Doreen Cronin at the Blue Willow Bookshop at 5pm. Some of the characters from MST’s production will be there as well.
