Inprint presents the 2011/2012 Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series.  Monday, September 19 the series features Francisco Goldman & Nicole Krauss, in the Cullen Theater, Wortham Center.

FRANCISCO GOLDMAN is the author of five books, including four works of fiction and one work of nonfiction. His first novel, The Long Night of White Chickens, was awarded the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award. The Ordinary Seaman, his second novel, was a finalist for the International IMPAC-Dublin Literary Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Fiction. His nonfiction book The Art of Political Murder was a New York Times 100 Notable Book of 2007.

He will read from his acclaimed new book, Say Her Name, which Robin Romm in The New York Times Book Review calls a “passionate and moving autobiographical novel....a beautifully written account of Goldman’s short marriage to [Aura] Estrada, a fiction writer who died in a bodysurfing accident in 2007, two years into their marriage, when she was 30.”

Goldman divides his time between New York and Mexico City.

NICOLE KRAUSS  (pictured) “can do just about anything with the English language” (Ann Harleman, The Boston Globe). Her first novel, Man Walks Into a Room, was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award for First Fiction. Her second novel, The History of Love, became an international bestseller and won the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing, France’s Prix du Meilleur Livre ?tranger, was named #1 book of the year by Amazon.com, and was short-listed for the Orange, Médicis and Femina prizes.

Her latest novel, Great House, a 2010 National Book Award finalist, is divided into four stories, with characters linked by memory and a writing desk that resurfaces in various households. "A complex, richly imagined new novel…Krauss’s talent runs deep. And she cannot write a bad sentence: pound for pound, the sentences alone deliver epiphany upon epiphany.” (Janet Byrne, Huffington Post)

In 2007, she was selected as one of Granta’s Best Young American Novelists, and in 2010 The New Yorker named her one of the 20 best writers under 40. Her books have been translated into more than 35 languages.
