    American Institute of Architects (AIA Houston)/Architecture Center Houston presents the exhibition Houston 175: 1836 through Now. Exhibition Dates August 25 – October 29, 2011. Opening Reception Thursday, August 25,  5:30 - 7:00pm.

    Curated for Architecture Center Houston by Barrie Scardino, this exhibition will explore the history of Houston's built environment with hundreds of photographs organized in 10 clusters: First (early history), Sacred, Civic, Shelter, Beautiful, Culture, Modern, Tall, Shop, and Exotic.

    Working with Mayor Annise Parker and her staff, a group of Houston non-profit organizations have come together to celebrate Houston’s 175th birthday! The architecture exhibition, one of ten that will be mounted throughout the city this fall, will be the first event of Houston 175: Celebrate Houston. The city will kick off a year of celebrations on Sunday, August 28 from 5-8pm at historic Market Square.

    Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise indicated.

    Parking is available in the Hobby Center parking garage located across the street with entrances on Rusk and Walker.
