Houston Friends of Chamber Music presents the Jerusalem String Quartet, Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Be sure to mark your calendar for this concert. This will be the first time the Jerusalem String Quartet has graced our stage, and we are thrilled that they'll finally be performing for our Houston friends.

The Jerusalem String Quartet was formed in 1993 when they were all still students at the Jerusalem Music Center.* The Jerusalem Quartet, Israel's first professional chamber group, was formed under the auspices of the Centre and other institutions in 1997. Since that time, they have become one of the most acclaimed ensembles in the chamber music field.

Their touring schedule includes all the top concert venues, and their recordings are quite popular and win numerous international prizes. The Jerusalem String Quartet's latest recording of Haydn's String Quartets (Vol.2) received the Diapason d'Or Arte while their earlier recording, Schubert's Death and the Maiden and Quartettsatz, won an ECHO Classic Award in 2009.
