DiverseWorks ArtSpace in partnership with the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is proud to present the world premiere of Two Alike, a collaboration between New York-based choreographer, writer and performer Jack Ferver and Brooklyn-based visual artist Marc Swanson. Two Alike is a meditative and visceral performance that follows a man's journey from rural upbringings to a furious adulthood set in an urban landscape. Ferver acts as the emotive flesh and voice inside Swanson’s eerie and raw sculptures. Performances are Thursday-Saturday, September 15-17 at 7:30pm in the DiverseWorks Theater.

This performance is in collaboration with Marc Swanson’s ongoing solo exhibiton, Perspectives 175: Marc Swanson: The Second Story at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston that runs through October 9, 2011.

“This is the first time in recent memory that the CAMH and DiverseWorks have come together to commission a new work. This is an incredible thing that’s so Houston - two institutions working together to support exciting artistic innovation, it’s appropriate that the work is called Two Alike.”

"Ferver and Swanson explore very similar themes in their works: how we create the illusion of beautiful unified personas from the exploded shards left when our lives crash against the rocks of life's vicissitudes. Although their approach is different—Swanson uses objects and Ferver uses his body and language—the two artists, recognizing kindred spirits, fuel each other through their collaboration. In similar manner, DiverseWorks and CAMH are kindred spirits in our support for such productive, volatile collaborations,” said Bill Arning, Director of CAMH.
