The Jung Center of Houston presents The Hand of Fatima.  Join teacher and performer Kristina Koutsoudas in an evening of story, music, and dance exploring this powerful symbol.

Unlock the mysteries of the Hand of Fatima, a beautiful, fascinating symbol of power and healing found throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Symbolizing both the five pillars of Islam and the five most highly regarded members of Islam, the Hand also symbolizes universal, feminine, and mystical traditions found in the hearts of devotees throughout the world.

We will explore the ancient and modern meanings of the Hand of Fatima through stories and symbolism found in images, tales, music, and dance.

Kristina Andriana Koutsoudas has been an independent choreographer, performer, and teacher of classical and folkloric cultural dance for more than 15 years. She has an MA in cross cultural studies and has received awards from both Houston Arts Alliance and Texas Commission on the Arts. Currently she teaches at Rice University, where she recently received the Frank W. Bearden Award for Teaching Excellence.
