Jung Center of Houston presents Healing the Ties that Bind. In this workshop by psychotherapist Anne Strain, discover the surprising ways our formative relationships—and those of many past generations of our families—continue to influence our lives.

Have you ever wondered if you might have been better off raised by wolves in the wild than by your family of origin? Are you interested in understanding how your formative relationships continue to impact your present day relationships, endeavors, and your sense of yourself in the world?

During this workshop we will focus on both secure and insecure attachment styles as envisioned from several different psychological perspectives, including depth psychology. We will attempt to understand the impact of multiple generations of family history on an individual's development and life experience.

Workshop format will include lecture and the use of film clips from Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood to illuminate the ideas being discussed. We also will engage in reflection exercises and discussion, during which self-disclosure will be strictly voluntary.

Anne Strain, LCSW, is a psychotherapist in private practice and a candidate-in-training to become a Jungian analyst in the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts.
