    SPIRAL (Espiral)
    The Mexican Film series continues this weekend with SPIRAL (Espiral), (2009, 100 min, Mexico) directed by Jorge Perez Solano. Prior to the screening, there will be a discussion from 6:30-7:00 with the film beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m.
    Hoping to better their lives, men migrate without realizing they are destroying what they most want to protect: their families. The men return to find nothing is the same since the women have taken over, fending for themselves without men. A distinctly Mixteca take on the human condition and how dreams sometimes distract us from the miracles that surround us. This luscious tragi-comedy will have you laughing to keep from crying one moment and con lagrimas de risa the next.

    7 DAYS 
    The Mexican Film series continues with "7 Days" (7 Di´as), (2005, 194 min, Mexico) directed by Fernando Kalife.
    "7 Days" is the story of desperate Claudio Caballero, a man who lives in the shadow of how great an event organizer his dead brother was. Claudio convinces his girlfriend Gloria to lend him $500,000 to place a suicidal bet at a clandestine casino, believing he'll walk out with the budget to bring the best rock act in the world to his hometown. He fails, but is given an unexpected last chance.

    THE STUDENT
    The Mexican Film Series concludes with "The Student" (El estudiante") (2009, 95 min, Mexico). directed by Roberto Girault.
    After retiring to the beautiful Mexican town of Guanajuato, a 70 year old decides to follow his dreams and enroll at the university where he stumbles upon a new generation and they are bound together by the novel Don Quijote de la Mancha.
