Masters of the Fiddle, Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, will thrill audiences with a superb intermingling of Scottish, Irish, and European fiddle traditions on Sunday, October 23rd at 3pm for one performance only at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston. Sponsored by Rust-Ewing Insurance, Texas First Bank, Texas First Mortgage, National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts, this performance promises a spectacular evening of music.

“The violin sings, but the fiddle dances.” It may be an old musician’s proverb, but it’s one that fittingly applies to the unique and contemporary style of master fiddler Donnell Leahy currently touring with his wife (and Cape Breton fiddling sensation) Natalie MacMaster. "These musicians are recognized as two of the world's most celebrated Celtic artists and the power couple of the Canadian fiddling world."

At just 9 1/2 years old, MacMaster forged her own sound and debuted her fiddling prowess at a square dance in Glencoe Mills, Novia Scotia. She delivered her first album, Four On The Floor, at the age of 16 and has completed 10 albums, achieved multiple gold sales figures, and won numerous Juno and East Coast Music Awards.

Also encouraged to start early, Donnell received his first fiddle at age 3. As leader of Leahy, the Lakefield, Ontario-based eight-piece family outfit that bears his surname, Donnell has helped Leahy achieve more than 1/2 million copies in combined worldwide CD sales of Leahy, Lakefield, In All Things and Live, and to propel them onto the global stage in a highly-praised run as the opening act for Shania Twain’s Come On Over world tour.

MacMaster and Leahy’s performances are a feast of fiddle-driven music, dance, and song. Their flamboyant step-dancing, heart-wrenching ballads, and passionate fiddling will leave you breathless!
