Noted Jungian analyst, priest and author J. Pittman McGehee will join best-selling author and family therapist Terrence Real as featured speakers at Love, Actually on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Christ Church Cathedral. McGehee will draw from his upcoming book, “The Paradox of Love,” and Real from his book “The New Rules of Marriage” in an exploration of what it means to love another person. The presenters will also field audience questions in a panel discussion in the conference’s final session.

In “The Paradox of Love,” noted Jungian Analyst, priest and author J. Pittman McGehee will explore the healing and wounding nature of love, the greatest of paradoxes. If one can tell the sophistication of a culture by the number of words it has for a concept, we should notice that we use the same word for how we feel about our spouse as how we feel about pizza. We will borrow three Greek words — eros, philia, and agape — to help understand this great mystery. Further, we will address the light and dark aspects of mother love, father love, other love, and self love.

In “The New Rules of Marriage,” best-selling author and family therapist Terrence Real will explore practical strategies for bringing honesty, passion and joy back to even the most difficult relationship. Using his experience in helping thousands of couples shift from despair to profound emotional closeness, Real will navigate through the process of relationship repair with exercises that you can do alone or with your partner.

“Love, Actually” is open to all and is presented by the Adult Formation Council and by the Center at the Cathedral. Attendees can pre-register for $60 through September 25 or pay $75 at the door.
