Freneticore presents Second Sundays!  The October program is Firelight with ChinaCat Dance,  Sunday, October 9, 7pm at Frenetic Theater, 5102 Navigation Blvd. Houston, TX 77011.

Join ChinaCat Dance and travel to a nocturnal space where the performers and audience are emboldened by darkness yet drawn to the firelight. Watch as sizzling creatures emerge from the blackness to dance with the flames. The evening’s display has been designed to delight, enchant and put everyone in touch with the element that has fascinated man since the dawn of time.

This fire performance features fans, orbs, torches, and poi. Following the performance will be a poi workshop where audience members can make their own play poi and try them out. And no worries- play poi means the poi will not be set on fire.

About ChinaCat Dance: ChinaCat’s Dance Theater was founded in 2006 in Huntsville, Texas at Sam Houston State University. Since then ChinaCat has had the privilege to perform in Huntsville, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. ChinaCat’s Dance Theater was experiencing great success and development in San Antonio where their performance highlights included Big Range Austin, Luminaria, and their own concert at the historic Arneson River Theater on the Riverwalk. Maggie Lasher, artistic director of ChinaCat, has relocated to Houston to teach at Houston Community College. The new Houston ChinaCats now consist of many Sam Houston State University alumni and the company is looking forward to becoming a part of the active and ever expanding Houston dance scene. ChinaCat’s mission is to provide enlightening, audience friendly dance works that are accessible to diverse communities and age groups.
