The Menil Collection presents a Panel Discussion: Seeing Stars: Visionary Drawing from the Collection, Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 7:30 p.m.

Unica Zürn practiced “automatic” drawing. Charles A. A. Dellschau made watercolors and collages of flying machines. Jackson Pollock drew under the influence of a psychoanalyst. They and other artists in the exhibition “Seeing Stars: Visionary Drawing from the Collection” are the subject of this panel discussion led by exhibition curator Michelle White.

Joining her are Menil Paper Conservator Jan Burandt; Houston artist Jack Massing; Kathryn Davidson, former Menil Foundation Curator; and Mary Jane Victor, former Menil Foundation Collections Coordinator, who discovered Dellschau’s work in a thrift shop.
