    Speak Green: Houston

    Meta-Four Houston, in partnership with DiverseWorks ArtSpace, Houston Arts Alliance, and HMAAC, is proud to present the regional premiere of Speak Green: Houston, a Youth Spoken-Word Competition that stems from Youth Speaks’ Life is Living project.

    Meta-Four Houston, in partnership with DiverseWorks ArtSpace, Houston Arts Alliance, and HMAAC, is proud to present the regional premiere of Speak Green: Houston, a Youth Spoken-Word Competition that stems from Youth Speaks’ Life is Living project.

    Speak Green inspire youth to be educated, equipped to living green and ecology by writing and expressing their thoughts in an open forum. Speak Green is an opportunity to be the pulse of city through Houston’s youth speaking out for better way of living. HMAAC will host the preliminary competition on November 1st 2011 6:00 pm for the 12 selected poets and the finals will be held at University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts in conjunction with red, black, and GREEN: a blues on November 5th 2011 5:00 pm.

    Meta-Four Houston has been working with several communities in Greater Houston area. Poets will submit green poems to Meta-Four Houston. Meta-Four has a panel that will select from the submited poems.

    Youth Speaks is a poetry organization based in San Francisco, CA that curated Speak Green on a national level. Speak Green: Houston is a project in conjunction with various community partners, HAA, DiverseWorks ArtSpace, University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, and HMAAC.

    Both events are FREE.


    Times:

    Preliminary round on November 1st at Houston Museum of African American Culture starts at 7pm

    Final round at Wortham Theatre, University of Houston Main Campus starts at 5:30pm
