American Institute of Architects (AIA Houston)/Architecture Center Houston and the Houston Public Library present Authors in Architecture: Eric M. Wolf, Thursday, October 20 at 6 pm at Architecture Center Houston, 315 Capitol, Suite 120 ? Houston, TX 77002. Eric Wolf will discuss his book American Art Museum Architecture: Documents and Design. The book explores the problems and challenges faced by architects and clients in creating buildings that interact with works of art.

American Art Museum Architecture: Documents and Design explores all aspects of, and approaches to, museum architecture; the aesthetic, the practical, the innovative, and the functional. Architectural historian Eric M. Wolf delves into the archives of some of the country's premier institutions not only to explore the design decisions made at their founding, but also to understand how those institutions have continued to evolve along with their collections. Wolf examines the gradual development of six major museums: the Frick Collection, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; the Menil Collection in Houston, the Georgia O'Keefe Museum in Santa Fe, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Eric M. Wolf is an art librarian and independent scholar of the history of art and architecture. Currently serving as Head Librarian at the Menil Collection in Houston, Texas, he has previously worked as Director of the Library at the New York School of Interior Design and the Frick Collection in New York City. Wolf received his Bachelors of Arts degree in art history at the University of California, Santa Cruz, his Masters and PhD degrees from Harvard University, Department of Fine Arts and his Masters of Library Science from the Pratt Institute. A California native, he has lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Venice (Italy), Rome (Italy), New York, and Houston.
