    The American Institute of Architects-Houston features nine notable buildings on the AIA Houston 2011 Home Tour, Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm each day.

    The American Institute of Architects-Houston features nine notable buildings on the AIA Houston 2011 Home Tour, Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm each day.

    Open to the public, the self-guided tour showcases the finest residential architecture in the Houston area, as designed by licensed architects. Houses are chosen to showcase a variety of design styles demonstrating that excellence in design is not limited by size or dollars.

    The tour is one of the organization's largest events, encompassing two days, 200 volunteers and cooperation from homeowners, architects and the community, according to a release. The homes, designed by local architects and firms, were chosen by a jury. Home sizes range from the 6,000-square-foot 9° House designed by Interloop-Architecture to the shoebox-sized (540 square feet) 806 Fisher Street designed by Donna Kacmar, FAIA.

    Tickets are $25 ($20 for bike riders).

    Rules

    • Guests must wear provided blue shoe covers while inside Tour houses.
    • Children that can walk must have a ticket to enjoy the tour.
    • All children must be escorted and supervised at all times.
    • Photography is limited to members of the media.
