Beloved teacher and author, Ellen Leventhal, teams up again with co-author, Ellen Rothberg and illustrator Bill Megenhardt, for book three featuring the spunky cow, Sue Ellen, showing readers that she has a mind of her own when it comes to things around the farm. In the latest story, Max’s nephew, Jake, comes to visit with big ideas and an even bigger personality. Will Sue Ellen do everything Jake tells her to do, or will she do what she knows is right? With Megenhardt’s bold and colorful illustrations, and “the Ellen’s” catchy narrative that speaks to important issues of respect, love of nature, and love for each other, this new book is another sure hit.

    11:30 AM - 12:20 PM & 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
    Kishka for Koppel
Aubrey Davis • PJ Library Author
Book & Activity for ages 3-6

Aubrey Davis has worked as a logger, farmer, salesman and teacher. As he traveled across Europe and North Africa, he discovered traditional folktales and turned his energies to writing and storytelling. The Bagels from Benny award-winning author’s new book once again takes a fresh approach to a classic tale. A magic meat grinder helps a poor Jewish couple learn a little gratitude after the three wishes it grants them go awry. A cautionary story that questions today’s consumerism and excessiveness, Kishka for Koppel, like the best folktales, can help children and adults alike to look beyond and within. For over 30 years Davis has told stories to people of all ages. Now a retired teacher, he taught an oral language program to primary and special needs students for 17 years. “I taught them language through story,” Davis said. “They taught me how to communicate simply, clearly and dramatically.”
