The 39th Annual Jewish Book & Arts Fair presents Adrienne Cooper with pianist Marilyn Lerner - Enchanted: A New Generation of Yiddish Song, Sunday, November 13 at 4:30pm.

If you think you know what to expect when you hear the words, “Yiddish song,” you’re in for a surprise with the release of Adrienne Cooper’s new CD “Enchanted: A New Generation of Yiddish Song.” Internationally recognized as one of this generation’s stellar performers and teachers of Yiddish vocal music, Cooper appears on concert, theater, and club stages around the world.

She has appeared at the ERJCC Kaplan Theatre numerous times including the rollicking ESN: Songs from the Kitchen with The Klezmatics’ Lorin Sklamberg and Frank London, Ghetto Tango with Zalmen Mlotek, and most recently as part of the Three Yiddish Divas with Joanne Borts and Theresa Tova. Enchanted offers an exploration of the emotional and textural possibilities that Yiddish song can provide; from deeply traditional a cappella passages to jazz ballads, from pop to multi-layered big-band arrangements a la Spike Jones.

Cooper’s presentation will be peppered with samplings from her CD and with accompaniment by Canadian jazz great, pianist Marilyn Lerner.
