Relive one of the world's classic musicals – Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific – at The Grand 1894 Opera House with just one memorable performance on Saturday, November 19th at 8pm. This Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will indeed be "Some Enchanted Evening" and is presented with sponsor support from The Lyda Kempner Quinn Fund for the Performing Arts and Mitchell Historic Properties.

Based on the 2008 Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production, the musical takes place on a tropical island during World War II and tells the romantic story of two couples - U.S. Navy nurse Nellie Forbush and French plantation owner Emile de Becque and Navy Airman Joe Cable and a young local native girl Liat - and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices.

With music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, the beloved score includes “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “This Nearly Was Mine,” “There is Nothin’ Like a Dame,” and “A Wonderful Guy.”
