Come for an aria or for the day. The Metropolitan Opera National Council Houston District Auditions take place 11am to 5pm Saturday, December 10 in Duncan Recital Hall, Rice University-Alice Pratt Brown Hall.

The Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions are an opera singer's first step towards the National Finals at the Met. Winners from 42 Districts compete in 14 Regions. These winners will then compete in Semi finals in New York. Winners of the finals (held onstage at the Met with orchestra) win $15,000 awards. Renee Fleming, Susan Graham, Lawrence Brownlee, and Nathan Gunn are but a few of the National Winners.

The public is invited to these auditions. They are free and you may stay for as short or as long a period as you wish.

Perhaps you'll be one of the first to "discover" tomorrow's international opera star.
