CONTEXT, a Houston-based chamber-music ensemble, presents CONTEXT:  From the Bohemian Forests: Music of Bedrich Smetana and Antonin Dvorak, in Rice University - Alice Pratt Brown Hall - Duncan Recital Hall, at 4pm, Sunday, November 20.

Hear the lyrical warmth, dancelike vitality, and poetic atmosphere of two incomparable Czech Composers, Bedrich Smetana (pictured)  and Antonin Dvorak, performed on magnificent 19th century instruments.

Considered the founder of Czech music, Smetana’s works are imbued with the feeling and directness of Czech folksong and dance. This program features character pieces for violin and piano four-hands, along with Dvorak's great Piano Quartet in E-flat--one of Dvorak's warmest and most emotionally intense works.
