FrenetiCore and Loueva Smith present the World Premiere of Tenderina, running December 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 16 & 17, all shows at 8pm, at Frenetic Theater, 5102 Navigation Blvd. Houston, TX 77011.

Tenderina is the surreal story of a stripper ballerina and her journey to self-revelation, premiering December 2-17 at Frenetic Theater. A multi-media collaboration based on a script by poet/playwright Loueva Smith and directed by Cliff Mabry, with original film and music by Robert Thoth and dance choreography by Rebecca French, “Tenderina” is a thought-provoking and humorous show that you can’t bring the kids to!

Featuring Allison Gregory-Jones as Tenderina, a.k.a. ‘The Girl Matador’; Allen Bauman as the psychedelic angel and voodoo musician, Kirk; Benito Vasquez as Tim, the accuser at a surreal trial where Tenderina is defended by the one-eyed storyteller Lee, played by Loueva Smith. Tenderina pivots into a journey of self-discovery and faces many unresolved questions as she learns what it means to be a dancer.

Dance by FrenetiCore artists: Kira Boerkircher, Taylor Coon, Rebecca French, Erica Halligan, Kristen Hanks, Mollie Miller, Stacey Ramsower.

    Lighting Design by Kevin Holden.
    Set Design by Dana Harrell.
    Costumes by Gin Martini.

Loueva Smith, Playwright, won the Audience Favorite Award at the Houston Fringe Festival for her plays “Wounded Woman Fashion Show,” and “Bruna Bunny and Baby Girl.” She is the author of the fur-wrapped collection of lesbian love poems “The Book of Wool and Fur.” She has also been a featured poet at the Public Poetry reading series, voted Houston Press Best Reading Series of 2011.

Cliff Mabry, Director, has directed for College of the Mainland Arena Theatre, the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Galveston Community College, and other theatres over the past thirty-five years. While he’s directed works of playwrights ranging from Eugene O’Neill to Christopher Durang, he always enjoys working with new works like those written by Loueva Smith.

Robert Thoth, Filmmaker and Composer, is co-artistic director of FrenetiCore, a non-profit organization that creates and promotes original dance, film, theater, and music in Houston, Texas. Thoth is a self-styled composer, multi-instrumentalist, filmographer, writer, graphic designer, and new-media artist.

Rebecca French, Choreographer, is co-artistic director of FrenetiCore, a non-profit organization that creates and promotes original dance, film, theater, and music. She has choreographed, directed and performed in over 30 full length dance theater works in Houston.
