Theater LaB Houston presents the Houston Premiere of SHOUT! The Mod Musical.  Created by Phillip George, David Lowenstein and Peter Charles Morris. Press & Opening night, Wednesday, February 22nd and running through March 25th.

Come celebrate the swinging 60's with vintage British pop faves! SHOUT! The Mod Musical is a zany, quasi-satiric return to London's Carnaby Street bringing back the beautiful birds and smashing sounds that made England swing in the 1960's. Bursting onto the 60's music scene in their fake eyelashes, daring miniskirts and knee-high boots - Lulu, Dusty Springfield and Petula Clark represented a fascinating new breed of independent women that inspired women on both sides of the Atlantic.

With terrific new arrangements of such classic tunes as "To Sir With Love," "Downtown," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "Son of a Preacher Man," and "Goldfinger." Writers like Tony Hatch, Carol King and Bernie Goffin, Burt Bacharach and Hal David are all heard at the top of their game through songs that resonate with a timeless quality which appeals to every generation.

SHOUT! The Mod Musical is named after Lulu's breakthrough hit - a cover version of the Isley Brothers' classic - Shout!

From cover-to-cover SHOUT! travels in time from 1960 to 1970 chronicling the dawning liberation of women, the fashions, the dances, the hair - all with a shimmy and shake, the songs are tied together by a cast of five women identified only by colors with hilarious sound bites from the period to lonely hearts letters answered by an advice columnist who thinks every problem can be solved with a new shade of lipstick. It's all about how the girls really grow up during the decade around the magazine "Shout!" which purports to be the arbiter of all things mod.
