Ad Deum Dance Company presents Body, Soul & Spirit - The Trinity of Dance, November 12 at 8pm and November 13 at 3pm, at Barnevelder Movement Arts Complex, 2201 Preston.

Ad Deum Dance Company, in celebration of their 12th performance season is pleased to present their latest production Body, Soul & Spirit – The Trinity of Dance. The inspiration for this performance is the concept of the triune nature of man, namely body, soul and spirit, and how these elements work in synergism and holistically in creative and artistic expressions.

Ad Deum explores the wholeness of man in reaction and response to the awareness and awe of created beauty and splendor in both the simple and profound surroundings of life. In choreographer Christina Schanta’s work – The Meadow – creation is both observed and reflected by that which has been made and it’s own distinct and unique movement in praise of its given life.

Randall Flinn’s Inspirito looks deep within the soul and spirit of the artist, as one endowed with a glorious stewardship. It is left to the heart of the artist to see their gift within the perspective of the grace given and the true freedom it was meant to exist within. When the artist denies such grace through self absorption, they may find themselves enslaved and even tormented by the very gift given to bring life. Inspirito could well be a look at an artist such as Mozart or even a modern day Black Swan, those inspired that have choices to their response.

In his premiere work – Hymns – Testaments of Faith, Mr. Flinn soul gazes upon beloved hymns of the Christian faith and seeks to learn more from their meaning, their beauty and the power of their expressive truth. There are rich stories behind such hymns as Amazing Grace, Be Still My Soul, It Is Well, I Surrender All and so many others. If these hymns were composed as dances that testified to this deep faith, then how would these dances look and how would they capture the body, soul and spirit of man in response to the Giver of all Life.

This performance will also debut Ad Deum 2, Ad Deum’s newly comprised second company, performing Storm –a jazz based fusion of human dynamics and One Day by Christina Schanta – a dancing proclamation of hope for all.
