Talento Bilingüe de Houston (TBH) presents Passport to La Republica Latina: Un dia de muertos en Michoacan, by La Compania Folklorica Alegria Mexicana, Friday and Saturday, November 18 & 19 at 8pm.  This show perpetuates memories of suffering, struggle and joy through tradition, folklórico dancers punctuate beats, synchronize movements and paint the stage with flowing skirts, colorful ribbons, and full smiles. Choreographed by CFAM Director Isidro Salas.

Choreographer Isidro Salas, with 30 years experience, leads his dance troupe Compañía Folklórica Alegría Mexicana for the past 10 years. In 2005, Salas was nominated for the Disney Dance Award.  His company had the honor of performing during the 2008 Latin Grammys with the Mariachi Vargas and Jorge Celedon. This same year, they competed in the National American Go Talent Contest and were semifinalists. At the Festival Internacional Globalifílicos (C.I.O.F.F), in 2009, his company represented the United States. Salas’ innovative choreography, agile dancers and musical selection from his native country captivated the audience with a unique fusion of ‘clogging’ and polka.

In 2010, the dance troupe participated at the ANGF, showcased in Las Vegas. This year Mr. Salas and his company have been invited to participate in the International Festival of Ballet Folklorico in Italy. Salas and his company have been resident artists at Talento Bilingüe de Houston since 2009.
