Edge Theatre presents The Grand Manner by A. R. Gurney, running Friday-Sunday, December 2 through December 11 at Midtown Art Center.

The brilliant playwright A.R. Gurney (Love Letters, Sylvia, The Dining Room) met the great actress Katharine Cornell backstage in 1948, and in 2010 made this life-long memory into an acclaimed comedy. This Houston premiere takes us backstage at the Martin Beck theatre to meet Kathrine Cornell (Kit), her husband and director Guthrie McClintic (Guth) and her "great and good friend" Gert Macy - for the marriage of Kit and Guth was, unknown to her public, a "lavender" one.

Secrets of the theatre, onstage and off, are revealed in a delightful comedy that has been hailed as: "A love letter to the theatre." (New York Post)
