Houston Tomorrow, Air Alliance Houston, and Citizens' Transportation Coalition present My Houston 2040, a Happy Hour meeting of the minds. One Thursday per month at Rudyard's Upstairs, 2010 Waugh Drive.  Free and open to the public. Food and drinks available at bar.

Houston Tomorrow, Air Alliance Houston, & Citizens' Transportation Coalition agree that Houstonians can build a better Houston today by thinking about the Houston we may inherit in 2040 and the Houston we want in 2040. Each happy hour will include time for networking and socializing, a topical speaker who will give an informational presentation on Houston urbanism, transportation planning, culture, environment, and more, and a visionary speaker who will give their “My Houston 2040” talk: what they think Houston will be like in 2040, what they want it to be like in 2040, and / or what they want us to do to make it like they want it to be in 2040.

Imagine what innovation could occur if the creative community in Houston had access to the tools and knowledge needed to bring its ideas to fruition.

Tx/Rx Labs is Houston’s Hackerspace. We are a project-based team of makers with backgrounds in the creative arts: electronic circuitry, music composition, 3D printing, computer science and security, screenprinting, fashion design, and even haute cuisine. Our goals are to bring creative people together, to serve as an incubator for imaginative solutions for everyday problems, to make opaque scientific and technical concepts accessible to everyone through education, and to provide much-needed services to our community, made possible by the skills and passion of our membership. Imagine how much innovation could occur if the creative community in Houston had access to the tools and knowledge needed to bring its ideas to fruition. We believe that we must revive the tradition of design and manufacturing in America after decades of neglect and decline. Many of America’s greatest industries began in inspired moments in garage workshops. We hope to provide you with that workshop through our classes and other educational programs, collective wisdom, and lab space.

Omar Afra is a father of 2, husband to one, dork to all, hater to none, Publisher and Managing Editor of Free Press Houston, co-owner of Fitzgerald's, Producer of Free Press Summer Fest, bass player and lead singer of Delicious Milk, and self-proclaimed ' Doctor of Rice, Lamb, and Yogurt. ' Afra's skillsets include 90's style R&B grinding, debating mindless popular culture, arm-chair quantum-physics, devouring large volumes of warm pastries in a single bound, and limitless cognitive dissonance. Notably, Afra has recently delved into a fitness regimen as his doctor told him his blood profile looks like 'Strawberry Milkshake.'
