Rienzi and Bayou Bend host the Rienzi and Bayou Bend History Reading Book Club January Discussion Session, a history book discussion series about life in America and Europe in the 1700s and 1800s. Meeting alternately at Rienzi and Bayou Bend, this book club offers free discussion on the second Wednesdays of every month at 1 pm and 7 pm.

January´s selection, Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution (2007) by Caroline Weber takes a look at France´s infamous queen through her costume. From a diamond-encrusted wedding dress and menswear inspired riding gear to towering hairstyles and simple, pastoral attire while at the Petit Trianon, Weber paints a picture of Marie Antoinette and the importance of what she wore.
