The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston presents the 32nd Annual Dance Month at the Kaplan Theatre January 11- February 12, 2012.

Dance Month 2012 kicks off with Tirkedu Houston! An Israeli Folkdance Workshop Weekend, a fun-filled weekend of enthusiastic and energetic Israeli dancing at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center.

Young energetic choreographer and instructor Elad Shtamer from Haifa, Israel, who has been dancing since he was 5 years old and has been teaching for 10 years, started choreographing at age 15. He is a second generation teacher. Since his father Eli Shtamer passed away in April 2008, Elad continued his favorite session in Haifa. Elad's circle dance "Ilan" by singer Yakov Shwekey has become a huge hit around the world.

In addition, Elad took first place for his couple dance Yesh be Mashu at the Karmiel Festival in 2011.The weekend will include an Erev-Shabbat Get Together, two teaching sessions for intermediate to advanced dancers with reviews at the end of each session, a Saturday night dance party and a review session of all dances on Sunday morning for those who attended one or both teaching sessions.

Tirkedu Houston! will take place January 13-15.

All Dance Month events will take place at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston, 5601 S. Brasewood, Houston, TX 77096. Concerts take place in the Kaplan Theatre, IW Marks Theatre Center.
