The Rothko Chapel presents The Uses and Abuses of History with Tariq Ali, Monday, January 23 at 7pm.

In working together on two challenging documentaries, South of the Border and The Untold History of the United States series for Showtime, filmmaker Oliver Stone engaged with author and filmmaker Tariq Ali in a probing, hard-hitting conversation on the forces that shape history and how that history gets told.

The book On History chronicles their dialogue and brings to light a number of forgotten episodes of American history. Tariq Ali will share provocative insights from the book and his recent global travels.

Tariq Ali is a British Pakistani historian, novelist, journalist, filmmaker, public intellectual, political campaigner, activist, and commentator. A book signing and reception follows the program.
