The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Art presents Drive-By Landscape: On the Edges of Suburbia with Lillian Warren.  In the Rebecca Cole Gallery January 7 through April 29, 2012.

The paintings of Lillian Warren attempt to make visible the invisible infrastructure that is necessary for our daily comfort. The human mind, constantly bombarded with the visual imagery of the urban landscape, is trained to block out these conveniences, from power lines to cell phone stores. Lillian Warren takes photographs of the visual clutter wherever she is and then using them as a reference, seeks to recapture the essence of a place. The exhibition Drive-By Landscape includes Warren's cityscapes as well as a more recent series of Trafficscapes.

Lillian Warren grew up in suburban Knoxville and graduated from the University of Tennessee with BFA in Painting. She studied Art History at the University of Toulouse in France, and eventually earned her MBA. She worked for multiple technology and banking firms before dedicating more time to painting in 2001 and simultaneously working as a part-time business consultant.

She is committed to sharing her expertise gained in the business world, giving workshops for area artists and serving on the boards of Houston arts organizations, such as Blaffer Art Museum and Diverseworks.
