Saturday, February 11 at 6:30pm, Murder by the Book presents Avery Aames, Melissa Bourbon, Kate Carlisle, & Dean James

Avery Aames (pictured) will sign and discuss Clobbered by Camembert (Berkley; $7.99). Avery Aames is the pseudonym for Daryl Wood Gerber. As Avery, she writes A Cheese Shop Mystery Series, the first of which, The Long Quiche Goodbye, won the Agatha Award for best first novel. The series is set in idyllic Holmes County, Ohio, and features Charlotte Bessette, a feisty cheese shop owner with a colorful extended family.

Melissa Bourbon will sign and discuss A Fitting End (Signet; $7.99). Melissa Bourbon, who sometimes answers to her Latina-by-marriage name Misa Ramirez, is the marketing director with Entangled Publishing. She is the founder of Books on the House, the co-founder of The Naked Hero and The Writer’s Guide to ePulblishing, and is the author of the Lola Cruz Mystery series with St. Martin’s Minotaur, A Magical Dressmaking Mystery series with NAL, two romantic suspense novels, and is the co-author of The Tricked-out Toolbox, all to be released in 2012.

Kate Carlisle will sign and discuss One Book in the Grave (Signet; $7.99). Kate Carlisle is also the author of the Bibliophile Mysteries, featuring rare book expert Brooklyn Wainwright, whose bookbinding and restoration skills invariably uncover old secrets, treachery and murder. Kate grew up in a big family near the beach in Southern California. She spent over twenty years working in television production as an Associate Director for game and variety shows, including The Midnight Special, Solid Gold and The Gong Show. She traveled the world as a Dating Game chaperone and performed strange acts of silliness on The Gong Show. She also studied acting and singing. Kate spends most of her time writing near the beach in Southern California where she lives with her perfect hero husband.

Dean "Miranda" James will sign and discuss File M For Murder (Berkley; $7.99). Our former store manager, Dean now works full-time at the Texas Medical Center Library (in addition to a Ph.D. in History from Rice,he has a Master's in Library Science) and part-time (every Saturday) at Murder By The Book. He's also an award-winning author of both mystery non-fiction -- including By a Woman's Hand and Killer Books (both co-written with Jean Swanson) -- and mystery fiction, including the Wanda Nell Culpepper novels (written as Jimmie Ruth Evans), the "Bridge Club" mysteries (written as Honor Hartman), and the New York Times Bestselling "Cat in the Stacks" mysteries (written as Miranda James).
