Nameless Sound and the Menil Collection present Sources and Echoes: Celebrating a Decade of Nameless Sound in Houston, Saturday, March 24, 2012.

On Saturday, March 24th, beginning at 2:30 pm, Nameless Sound and the Menil Collection present Sources and Echoes, featuring the Nameless Sound Alumni Orchestra. The orchestra comprises eighteen graduates of Nameless Sound’s unique creative music education program. NS alumni have gone on to pursue careers in various fields, including education, architecture, and music therapy, but will reconvene this March to mark the organization’s tenth anniversary.

They will perform first at the Menil Collection's Richmond Hall (1500 Richmond) with a five-hour marathon showcase for their individual talents, during which the audience is invited to come and go as they please. Then, at 8 pm, the concert moves next door to the Menil Collection’s Mandell Pavilion (4215 Mandell) for the space’s premiere event, a performance of “4 Meditations for Orchestra.” The multi-faceted score was composed in 1971-1997 by Pauline Oliveros, whose Deep Listening aesthetic informed and inspired the founding of the Nameless Sound organization in 2001.
