Houston Community College (Central) Fine Arts Dept presents Arms and the Man, a semi-sweet dark comedy with a luscious rich romantic center. By George Bernard Shaw. Directed by Terry Jones.

Raina Petkoff is a young lady with dreamy romantic notions of war - her fiancé does look so dashing in his sparkling uniform. To her horror, her cherished illusions are challenged when a very ordinary soldier, running from a battle, sneaks through her bedroom window.

She is shocked to learn that war is not about death-defying heroic deeds but rather about getting shot and the young man plans to avoid that.

What's even more alarming is that there's a quirky warmth and wit about the runaway that charms not only her aristocratic family, but her ferocious fiancé as well.

Ed Muth makes a rare on-stage appearance as Major Petkoff.
